Narrative Description of Project:

The project aims at building entrepreneurship in the provision of services on water supply, solid waste and sludge management in unplanned settlements of Temeke Municipal Council. The project focuses in 5 wards of Temeke Municipality. Three sanitation enterprises have been engaged to provide solid and liquid waste collection, transportation and disposal services in a sustainable business modal covering 5 wards. Community water Management group have been formed and trained to manage community water sources in an agent arrangement with DAWASCO through management of three water points. The services are among others anticipated to benefit a total population of 281,493 (144,962 Female and 136,531 Male)

The overall objective is to analyze and generate lessons from the three project processes including results attained during the three years of project implementation, and indicates in details how Urban WASH intervention be implemented in order to provide sustainable urban WASH services. The WASH urban guide will provide an overview on how to design and implement a pro-poor urban water, sanitation and hygiene programme and provide a clear framework for urban WASH intervention especially in informal settlement. The guide will primarily be designed for WASH professional and experts exercising at different level, funding agencies or investors, NGO or private institutions, local authorities and governments institutions.
 

Services Provided by ENVICON:

  • Prepare inception report;
  • Carry out review of project’s documents
  • Carry out interview for data collection, focus group discussions, and stakeholders consultation;
  • Organize stakeholders workshop for result validation;
  • Document and analyze key processes used by the project to identify strengths and weaknesses of the potential process model for urban WASH execution;
  • Provide contextual analysis on best practices, project design and execution and generate key process and programmatic lessons relevant to the project and the sector;
  • Prepare 2 best cases and 2 worst cases scenario stories of change resulting from projects execution;
  • Prepare analytical draft report and final report.
